I have experience writing web and marketing copy, both site copy and high-level. I also have three years of business and legal writing and editing, and I'm familiar with both AP style and the Chicago Manual of Style.

Lately I've been making friends with:

Kohler Co.
I wrote more than 2,000 product descriptions and edited about 2,500 more for Kohler.com. As an editor, I took responsibility for developing a style manual and helped shape the direction of the descriptions with close attention to their purpose and audience. Writing and editing continue for various other projects.

Roberts & Ryan Senior Management Search
I worked with The Royal Order of Experience Design on the redesign of Roberts & Ryan's website. My role was to restructure and rewrite the current site's content, and bring a new voice to it. The project also offered experience with positioning language and headline-writing, and exposed me to the creative process.

McDaniel College
I'm currently helping mStoner with their redesign of McDaniel's website, lending my editing skills to improve the new site's content.

Barnow and Associates, P.C.
My old day job. As a legal secretary, I contributed my writing and editing skills to the many briefs, pleadings, and other documents produced by my firm. I also lent my talents for organization and project management, helping the office find new ways to run ... at least a little bit smoothly.

University of Minnesota, Department of Neurology
The U's Movement Disorders Center needed help writing the invitation to a winetasting event. The event's goal is to pique research participants' interest in contributing more to the Parkinson's research program and fundraising efforts. Because of restrictions enforced by the U's research-regulation unit, the event couldn't appear to be an incentive for participation in research studies. And although the Center was hoping to collect donations, no impression could be given that the event would be a fundraiser.
Before and after

Shawnimals
Shawn runs a friendly business at Shawnimals.com, and he also really likes to talk (in his words). I'm helping him tighten and reorganize his site's copy to make it less redundant and more readable, while leaving his fun, charming voice intact.
